About Linn

My name is Linn and I am an illustrator from Hamburg, living and working in Iceland.
I rent a little studio in a former fish factory in a small town called Hafnarfjörður, where I spend most of my days making a mess and illustrating stories for children.
I also give art workshops for children and host a biweekly life drawing event in Hafnarfjörður.
I love to work with traditional media and mixing different materials like gouache paint and colored pencils.
I am especially drawn to collage and have collected almost unreasonable amounts of newspapers and magazines for that purpose. You can usually find at least some collage elements in the books I illustrate. I like to create pictures with lots of details to explore and a sense of humor and whimsy.
A lot of my inspiration comes from Icelandic nature and observing the people and everyday life around me.
I have illustrated books for Icelandic authors and publishers and was nominated for the Reykjavik Children's Book Prize in 2024 for my illustrations in the book “Einstakt Jólatré” (written by Benný Sif Ísleifsdóttir and published by Forlagið).
